I was really lucky to be near a calving glacier whilst holding a camera. I was on a cruise in Alaska when our ship slowed down in Glacier Bay to give us a good view of the glaciers around us. Seeing bits of the glacier fall off may seem exciting, however, Mother Nature can be so unpredictable and can cause very dangerous situations. The drop of one massive ice block can cause a small tsunami as well as flying ice onto boat decks. It's always important to keep a good distance from these natural phenomenas.

Really cool shot! I was once on a rocky shore near a glacier in a remote part of AK when this happened. Very scary. We had to jump in the tiny boat and get out of there quick. It was amazing to see, but very scary to have to run from it.

Thank you! I think people underestimate the power of nature. Whilst it's so beautiful it's kind of scary at the same time! I can imagine you would have had to move quickly!
